  1. Good day!

I've got several .mpg files which are in 4:3 format but which look like a squeezed 16:9 (everybody is overly tall). Is there a way to 'unsqueeze' those files back into 16:9 without loss of quality? (i.e. permanently, not just by choosing a different aspect ration in VLC player).

    Thanks in advance,
    Boris.

Been ages since I last did this but I used to use DVDPatcher.

  4. Thanks guys, I've now tried both with the same result - if I just change the aspect ratio, the resulting file is indeed stretched but has thick black bars above and below (so that the overall file format is still 4:3). If I try to change the actual resolution (to 1024x576) the video become covered with blotchy green artifacts.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

I believe it was designed to change .mod file extension to .mpg files. But it works with .mpg and sets the 16:9 widescreen flag.

You can do a manual selection to choose individual files, or do a whole folder in one go.

    That's great to hear

It's a handy little tool I've used numerous times myself in the past.
