  1. I posted this last night in the Newbie section but for some reason I cannot find it now. Anyway I was wondering if someone could tell me what program would be good and easy to use for burning an SVCD with .bin and .cue files. I thought I had done it before using CDRWin but it doesn't seem to work now so maybe it wasn't that program. Unfortunately I have no idea what program it was so I thought I would ask you fine people.

    Thanks,

    John

In my opinion CDRwin is the best program on the market for burning bin and cue files, so yes it should work fine. Simply click on the first button on the top, which is the record disk . Load your cue file and start burning.

If for some reason you cannot get CDRwin to work try CDRAO, as its free. Another commercial program you may like is fireburner and as a last resort you can use Nero, though I don't recommend this for bin and cue.

  3. The newer versions of Nero for burning bin/cue files has improved. Older versions required editing the cue file to the location of the bin file on the drive. Newer versions do not require this. Newer versions of Nero actually work quite well.

I find it interesting that Nero STILL doesn't do bin/cue properly for me (but I do get a different error these days, so I guess it's "improved").

I would also use CDRWIN, have you tried burning from a fresh restart? (I've found I have to no matter what program I use)

Because not everyone uses the same programs to author those bin and cue images Compound.

I use I-Author created cif files converted to bin and cue and sometimes vcdimager created bin and cue files. I get very inconsistent results burning these in Nero.

If Nero works for you then great, its just not my first recommendation for bin and cue burning, or even SVCDS in any form for that matter.

do you mean underruns or not recognizing the cue.
    just curious.

  9. Thanks for the great responses. I do now believe it was CDRWin that I used before and had no problems with it. But now I am getting this error message when loading the .cue file:

Error: Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 1
Unable to find or open file

Is this because the authoring is different than last time? It doesn't make much sense to me why all of a sudden it won't work, although I do understand that there are a lot of different factors in things like this.

    Any suggestions about that error?

    Thanks a lot,

    John

  10. Open up the CUE file and have a look at LINE 1. The path to the BIN file (for some bizarre reason) appears to be wrong.

Also, if you use a crack or known pirate serial number with CDRWin, it will accept it and then burn coasters so be warned!

CDRDAO works quite well with CUE/BIN images and I suggest either VCDEasy or XDuplicator as a GUI to it. Also, make sure you have an ASPI layer installed (use ForceASPI).

I actually prefer CDRDAO over CDRWin because it will allow you to burn subindices over the 80 min marik. CDRWin is in the right, of course, but the fact that CDRDAO can stretch the standard a bit is useful when making S/VCDs.

Nero appears to be burning CUE/BIN reasonable well now (compared to the older versions which would consisently incorrectly burn multi-track CUE/BIN images -- the "150 sectors problem"). However, I still strongly recommend CDRDAO and CDRWin above Nero.

Fireburner's compatibility with CUE/BIN images is somewhat marginal (it doesn't understand subindices) but if you edit the CUE file to remove them, it seems to work okay.

BTW, as someone mentioned up this thread, mounting the CUE/BIN image with daemon-tools and then "copying" it with CloneCD is actually quite a good way of burning a CUE/BIN image if none of the above works for you.

    Regards.

  11. I agree past 6 months or so it's been daemon tools and copy cd to cd usually with discjuggler...but use whatever works for you. Before that I used vcdeasy or tscv with the builtin cdrdao.

  12. Alright there lies the problem. I opened up the cue file with notepad and saw that the bin file name listed in quotes was incorrect. Reason is that I had changed the name of the files for organization purposes.

CDRWin now works fine so thank you for the help and pointing me in the right direction. I really appreciate it.

Neither. The disk simply will not load on my dvd player. The same image burnt in CDRwin works fine.
