  1. Hi all

I recently bought a Blackmagic Intensity Pro for my father, to allow HD capturing from a camcorder but also because he has a LG Freeview PVR/DVD Recorder with a failing optical laser unit - he now has Sky+ so has no need for the LG, but he wants to hang on to some of the recordings.

The card is installed in a HP Z400 series workstation with RAID5 storage, and capture from a JVC HD camcorder via HDMI works fine.

However, any connection from the LG (HDMI, component, composite) gives a flickering video signal, either in the preview or resulting capture.

To say flicker, it is more that the signal is visible for 1-2 seconds, then black for 3-5, then repeats.

I haven't found a proper specification for the output standard used by the LG, but I have tried every possible video setting available through the BM control panel, and result in either nothing at all, or the flicker/stutter described.

I can't believe this is a hardware fault on either side, since the LG is viewable fine on a TV, and the card captures from the JVC camera without fault. These working scenarios are using the same cables too.

    Be grateful for any advice!

    Thanks

I have an older Medion MD81335 (LG Clone) HDD DVD Recorder. There is software available to pull the recordings off of the HDD directly to your computer. Depending on which one you have it MIGHT be worth looking into. Mine is pretty old though and I doubt it will work for newer ones.

PS- you need to remove the HDD from the recorder.
