windows xp 32 bit, mpc-hc 1.6.6.6899 (7062122) was using ffdshow decoder, directvobsub, haali media splitter.
after I watch a video with mpc-hc and close it using the X on the upper right corner, the mpc-hc.exe doesn't disappear from task manager in the list of processes. as I watch and close more and more videos, I get a long list of mpc-hc.exe piling up on the list
should I force end the processes on the task manager? will this actually free up my memories? is this good or bad to do? how can I prevent this from happening in the 1st place so when I close mpc-hc it actually free up the memories?

I remember I had to delete all MPC processes in task manager. No harm was done.
Those processes started to accumulate only after some error, not proper exiting. So for some kind of video it really means perhaps using stop button first and after mpc realy stops then X to exit window. If I left one process running, not knowingly - mpc.exe was still listed in task manager and I started new process it behaved that way, it started to accumulate processes there. I had to end all of those processes in there. -
Does the MPC-HC exe remain in task manager every single time? It shouldn't, but it does sometimes happen. Ending the MPC-HC processes in task manager won't do any harm.
It might pay to open a video using nothing but MPC-HC's internal filters to see if the problem persists. If it doesn't then you could try adding ffdshow and haali etc to the mix one at a time to see if one of them are causing it, although if they are, I'm not sure how you'd go about fixing it.
