A few years back, I haggled some discounts using the "Sad Story" technique. Has anyone else tried this?

I'm trying to "score" a Big JamBox zippered case that's only sold at the company store, but it's $50! The case is not detailed enough to justify that price, it's basically a square, no fancy stitching or bling at all.

Also, I noticed some attempts, on Amazon, from 3rd parties, trying to get something out there too, which is just a matter of time, and that should force a lower price. But I'd have to wait. The alternate versions now look dopey. Somebody is even claiming they use a wine bottle holder, and I looked at that, but it's awful ugly and near $50 too.

Somebody came up with a waterproof case for the Little JamBox, which I thought might be the ticket, but it hasn't come out for the big one yet.

Anywhoo, I put in a request for a "Promo Code" via the "Contact Us" link, and I attached a sad tale. I'll post back if it works. Or if anyone needs a sample sob story, just ask, and I'll post one that you can copy and paste. Heck, it doesn't cost anything to go fishing for deals, right?

Funny you would mention this becsue just this past weekend my Mother and Brother were shopping. They were in this purse store for a specific brand and my brother was telling the lady how my Mother lost a few of these purses to a house fire 2 years ago. He wasn't looking for any deal and just making conversation but the lady offered her any purse in the store for free and these are at least $100 purses. After talking to the lady a little more they found out it was store policy.

I know a guy in a wheelchair who lays a sad story on many computer shops around Christmas. Each practically gives him a computer. Then he takes all of them down to the pawn shop. An annual event, he checks the following year to see if they've changed management and staff.
