  1. So what am I doing wrong? Every forum that I have visited says that this player has no problems playing mp4 files but every single mp4 file that I try won't play with out artifacts, ghosts, smearing, blurring, etc. At first I thought that is was just how the file might have been compressed but ALL mp4 files from different sources behave this way.

Are you playing SD video on an HDTV? It'll tend to make the flaws in the videos even more apparent. Of course, the player just might not be good at decoding or handling the video, either, such as if the bitrate's too high.

Have you tried creating an MP4 yourself, from as good a source as your player will allow (say, a Blu-Ray rip, or from (an HD) video camera), and see how the player handles it?

Are these files being played authored as blu-ray or as straight mp4?

  4. These are all just various tv show mp4 files that I have downloaded as torrents. But they all come from different people so they probably don't rip them all the same. My PS3 reads these same files just fine.
I have not tried to make my own mp4 yet. I'll try it.
I will try out the Blu-Ray rip as well.
    It is not an HDTV.
