Look, I get that politics are off topic here and I concur, but once again johns0 has screwed over the innocent by closing a thread. He does this crap all the time here. The original poster did nothing wrong, but he's paying the price now thanks to johns0.

Nothing much was really said in regards to politics. In other words things hadn't (yet) spiraled out-of-control and so I guess I am saying it would have been easy to give a warning (maybe even delete those two posts) leaving the thread itself open.

Threads should only be closed when it is clear they have spiraled out-of-control and yet that just wasn't the case with the thread in question here.

I have never seen or had any issue's with johns0, but yeah, for that 1 stupid little comment by some dumbass, a thread closing does seem a bit excessive.....

He is completely power mad and this is far from an isolated incident of him closing a thread over very iffy reasons. I know his kind. He sees the entire world in black and white so all you have to do is have one post violate our rules and - bam! - thread closed. I have tried in the past to take this subject up with him privately but he sees himself as the champion of right and punisher of evildoers and he is completely incapable of considering that his actions may be rash and overzealous.

What this means is that we now have the power to close any thread we don't like by simply posting political talk inside it and waiting for johns0 to get wind of it and close it. Is that really what we want this board to come to?

i really don't have an issue with the way johns0 moderates, if you really want to see an ******* in action you should visit the doom9 forums and see that douche neuron2 in full prick mode, hell i've actually gotten private messages in this forum over run-ins i've had with neuron2 in that forum.

btw, if you read through the linked thread that was closed down, you will note that the only contribution from neuron2 was a post in clear violation of this forum's rules.

in other words that pile of monkey spunk has no problem abusing this forum but in that half-assed poor excuse of a circle jerk that is the doom9 forums, if anyone has the balls to disagree with this self righteous hard on or a handful of the golden shower boys over there that thread gets closed down and multiple threats, i mean "warnings", are issued.

Wouldn't a warning have been enough? We're not talking about trolls here, but established members. I got the impression that neuron2's post was tongue-in-cheek anyway.

We used to have some lively threads here that sometimes got political. But mostly it was just fun. I confess I once got a warning myself, or maybe it was twice, I forget.

You are completely missing the point. The point is that now I or anyone else can be douchebags and get ANY thread we want to closed by simply posting political comments in it. Got an issue with another member here? Why just post political talk in their threads and wait for johns0 to close them all! Yes, certainly we can all open new threads, but do we really want to see flame wars here where one member keeps deliberately getting another member's threads closed?

Again, this is hardly an isolated incident. I have sent a private message to Baldrick about this issue and referenced this thread. Nothing may be done in the end, but I have personally had enough of johns0 doing this crap and attempting to reason with him via PMs is like talking to a wall. He is a self-righteous jerk who sees himself as the ultimate arbitrator of right and wrong.

deadrats - I feel your pain. I gave up participating in Doom9 (under a different name by the way) years ago. It used to be a great site but the smugness of the cliques there eventually overshadowed any good it could do, at least in my opinion.

Assuming the "Warning System" is still working, striking neuron2 with FOUR "yellow cards" would have been sufficient and quite adequate.

My post was indeed a tongue-in-cheek response to the first poster who blamed the US Congress. It was ill-advised I see in retrospect and I regret it.

I do hope that jman98 had the decency to contact the moderator privately about this before going public. Judging by his tone here, I rather doubt it.

You can edit your post and erase it.

But the correct moderation would have been to issue a warning and delete your post and the reply rather than terminate the entire thread.

as for d9, it's such a DS and penguin ass kissing forum that it makes me want to vomit. there's a bunch of never-had-a-girl virgins over there that worship at the alters of open source and x264 and God forbid anyone points out the absurdities that DS and friends say on a regular basis.

Nope, johsn0 is doing a good job. Political threads will be locked or cleaned. But yes that thread should probably just have been cleaned directly instead of locked. But we can unlock threads....some times...
