  1. Please I am looking forward a tool that help me to do exact cropping because various used video editing software reporting different crop %s.
For example when I use VidCoder, I found that I need to crop by 10% from the bottom, while when using Bigasoft Total Video Converter I found that I need to do 15%.
Please I'd like to understand the reason for that?
Also I'd like to know what is the tool to do exact cropping %s according to standards, so when I use any video editing tool to use the %s I get from this cropping tools with not worry.

What do you want to end up with AFTER the crop? - 720x480, 720x576?

I do crop from all 4 sides, from the bottom by 108 and top by 6 and right by 12 qnd left by 10.
And I did this using the Bigasoft Total Video Converter
But when I open VidCoder to do the crop and encoding and place these crop settings I nd up with another result because the crop is not exactly the same in both cases.

    No....it didn't.
What do you want to end up with AFTER the crop?
Cropping changes the size of the video(to something smaller than 720x576)

I am sorry if I did not cleared my point correctly.
I mean how to do the exact right crop because each tool I used is doing a different crop.
For example there is a commercial at the bottom and I'd like to remove it.
When I use application (X) I found the crop must be 10 points to completly remove the commercial.
While when I use the (Y) I found the crop must be 15 points to remove the same exact commercial.
So my original question is: what is the tool I may use to do the exact crop !?
Hope that I am clear now.

OK< so you have a PAL video with encoded frame size 720x576. Let's say you use something to crop off 20 pixels from the bottom border (as an example). The video frame size will be 720x556. Maybe another cropping app will require that you cut fewer or more pixels, but they still crop. Why not use the utility that crops the way you want? Even better, open it in Avisynth as an AVI and use the Crop() command.

You haven't answered the question: What frame size and format do you want to have after the crop?

Right. If he just wants to make another DVD, but with the ad removed, he can either just letterbox it on the bottom, or do the crop and then add back black above and below, to an amount equal to the total of what was removed.

  12. Sorry if I forget to mention that the original video is PAL with 4:3 aspect ratio and 720x576 frame size.

Actually I am using VidCoder to encode to .mp4 with h.264 because it is the only format that will work for the purpose I am working into.

Actually I do the required crop and then make two sizes of the same video (small size quality with 480x270, and a better quality with 640x360).

No, I will not make another DVD but will be used in the web.

Then you're winding up with a different aspect ratio from what you started with. That is to say, circles are no longer round. Just how bad it is depends on if the DVD was 16:9 to begin with (very bad) or 4:3 (not quite as bad).

    OK.

  15. Maybe you can post some pictures of what you're starting with and where you want to end up.

Yes, we need a sample -- either a short video or a frame capture to let us see what you're trying to crop. I don't see anything wrong with your English
