This looks like an interesting utility if dependable; it does driver backups very well but I have not restored with it yet. Could be useful in older systems where the drivers are no longer available and I want to reinstall the OS. Anyone ever restored with it?

I tried it with 2 PCs- 1 that had the drivers already installed, and another (supposedly identical model & lot) that didn't. Wouldn't work. At all.
Went back to just creating a "driver installer" cd. Worked fine (with the SAME drivers as above).

Either the models were just enough different that the "restore" wouldn't work correctly, or the backup/restore doesn't account for everything necessary.
Either way, I'm not using that again.

  4. Have seen several similar programs, never encountered one that was worth a damn.

"drivers no longer available" is pretty darn rare. Haven't really run into that since DOS days, other than some truly oddball hardware. If it's that weirdo, I don't really want it in the box, anyway.

Johnso: sorry about that, I accidentally hit the post button before I was finished typing the subject header. I couldn't find any way to edit the subject header, if there is one let me know. It was intended to read as you fixed it. To all, thanks for the replies. Cornucopia: how did you create a driver installer cd?

Researched the drivers needed for a particular pc configuration and downloaded them (if I didn't already have copies) .
Then burn them to disc, organized into fumctional/hardware category folders.
No need for autoinstalls or menus, just some info text files.
