I have just installed vob2mpg (free) on windows 8 (build 8400) when I start it get the following
Xenocode Virtual Appliance Runtime
This application has encountered an error: 0xD0000135
Please contact the publisher of this application for more information.
I have tried googling this error and it seems to indicate a .net error
Don't suggest a restore option - this happens on a clean install!
I have tried running as Admin and altering compatibility settings but nothing cures it
I have not had this or any other error running vobempg on windows xp or 7
What is the problem? Is vob2mpg compatible with windows 8?

Windows 7 moved away substantially from backwards compatibility ... IMO that was good.
Windows 8 has moved much further. I wouldn't blame vob2mpg (or windows either) particularly.
A lot of freeware developers have had problems making their stuff win7 compatible, and it's going to be even worse with win8.
I'm not trying to dump on windows 8 here. From what I can tell it looks to be a lot more stable than windows 7 ... which is more stable than vista but not that great either. But these issues are going to come up, especially on older programs that haven't been updated for a while.
I actually haven't used win8 much ... I'm in the process of migrating to linux ... but I'd suggest emulator mode.
