Just wanted to share the good news. I built a standard VCD out of four episodes of Crank Yankers last night, in Ulead's DVD movie factory. Total running time was 84 minutes. I put a Yamaha 24x CDR 80min/700mb in there, one of the ones manufactured by Mitsui Chemical, and it burned just fine. It never prompted me for overburn or anything... it just plain worked. It did warn me before it started that the intended project might not fit on my disc, but it fit anyway. I burned a few more copies just to test the results again, and all successful.
So it looks like DMF will overburn as and when necessary, if hardware and media cooperate.
I used a Plextor 24x burner, running from WinXP Corporate.
