I've been trying to automate the transcoding of files from my tivo to xvid. I ran across "cbreak" to cut the commercials (http://devices.natetrue.com/cbreak/) and it appears to work well, for video. However the files it produces do not contain any audio.

The process I am using is:
    Decode with tivodecode
Process with mencoder to convert to xvid (2 pass) avi
    Run cbreak on resulting file

I have tried to save the audio as both mp3 or pcm, and both options result in a properly cut video, but no audio in the file. The tivo file is mpeg2 video with mp3 audio.

I just read about comskip here, and will be trying that out, but I'm curious of anyone has had success with cbreak.

I'm running on Windows Vista 64bit.

That app is for AVI, so I'm wondering if you converted your TIVO files to AVI first, or did you do the "MPEG in AVI container" trick they mention. The "trick" doesn't work in every case.

Comskip is a great little app and it is constantly updated.

I first converted to xvid in an avi file, then tried to cbreak it. The video worked just fine, which makes me think it's having a problem with the type of audio stream I'm using.

Since it seems like comskip is the preferred method, I'll try to use that instead.
