  1. i recently got a new capture card (aiw radeon) and i've experimented with the huffyuv codec and divx with virtualdub like this site suggests but i was wondering what program/codecs would give the best quality mpg.. and also, what would be best to use to to capture longer video segments into a divx or something.

virtualdub/huffy would work great except that whenever there's motions lines go across the screen and ruins the picture.. and that's EVERYTIME there's any sudden motion.. could i get rid of it by changing the program or codec? i didn't get any lines when i used huffy with ati's capturing program but the audio wasn't synced after awhile.. not to mention the massive frame drops

virtualdub wouldn't let me capture in any resolution greater than 352x288.. and i was wondering how to capture in larger resolutions on top of everything else..

would using programs like avi_io or any other programs help my line problems? i'd appreciate any advice on what to use or how to fix the problems.. thanks

  2. huffy is the best quality capture codec, since it's lossless. If virtualdub won't go over x288 then you need a WDM capture app. Try IuVCR, or maybe even showshifter.

I'm not sure what the lines are. Could be interlacing, but that shouldn't be an issue at 352x288 unless you're grabbing pal res off an ntsc feed. try 352x240 and see if it goes away.

If your audio card is an SBLive, capturing the audio at 48k might improve audio sync.
