Why not just go to the manufacturers website and download the driver yourself.

  4. If you don't have a problem, don't update your drivers.

The original idea years ago seemed to be helpful, but I consider all driver update tools to be scams. None of them are worth a monthly/yearly fee we you can do the same, safer, and free.
    Have a good one,

  10. Driver update software is a scam and a trap for idiots. Just read off your model number and type it in, HP site is a piece of cake. Why would you need software to find your model number for you?

There is no "best brand". Every company has multiple models to fit different markets. Sale prices vary dramatically.

In general, Dell is hard to beat on bang for the buck.

  11. In my experience, most laptops don't need any additional drivers after Windows 7,
Windows 7 even updates its core drivers in its regular updates.

I agree that DRIVER UPDATE SOFTWARES are a scam. Not all laptops are identical even among similar model numbers.
These so called automated driver updaters can do more harm by installing the wrong DRIVER for your laptop.

If I were you I'd stick with the stocl windows 7 drivers + whatever driver came with the the laptops CD.
