hey everyone..
I know a little when it comes to ripping/burning/editing and so on as I work in that field. However, I'm having issues and not too sure why I'm having them.
I bought a Sony (model: VRD-MC6) Multi-Function DVD Recorder with the idea of copying some older DVD/VHS movies onto new DVD discs right? Well.. I'm having issues.
I'm simply wanting to copy the dvd that is playing in my dvd player.. onto the bank DVD-R Disc that is in the Sony DVD recorder. However, the little screen on the recorder.. says "Waiting for input signal" - Now, this tells me one or two things: One, either this device is incapable of recording dvd's.. or two, the 'copywright' on the original disc (the movie I'm trying to copy) is not allowing the device to get a signal.. because of the 'copywright' thing.
Anyone know of any shortcuts.. any ideas to get this to work?? Or... should I just give up.. take the Sony recorder back to the store I bought it.. and try a different type of DVD recording device..?
Any help with this would be GREATLY appreciated..
Thanks!![]()

You can't copy commercial dvds with the dvd recorder.
Use instead your computer with a dvd copy software like dvdfab decrypter. -
awww man damn! I was afraid of that...
fruck..
alright.. I'll have to look into your suggestions.
thanks for the help man.

eeek! you were wrong my friend.. wrong wrong wrong.
I thought it would work... and after going over it with my brother in-law whos a legal video technician/lawyer and also happens to be certified through Microsoft... we checked the DVD Disc that I was 'trying' to record on... and sure enough.. IT WORKS!
I shit you not my friend!! It really does work!! Thats whack though.. because I technically shouldnt be allowed to do that... but by God it DOES it..

What kind of cables are you using to connect the player with the recorder?
And it didn't work the first time but it did later? You must have done something differently the second time then, right? Can we suspect user error? -
The only reason the dvd can be recorded is because it has no copy protection and you lucked out there, try using another commercial movie disc.

hmmm ... perhaps he dug out of his closet a APEX machine with the firmware installed for removing Macrovision and he is using that for ... the DVD Player.
Anybody here remember the days when we was all running to Walmart to find the APEX machines that we could apply that special firmware too ?? ... with that special Kodak sticker on it ... I ended up getting mine on Ebay ... back in the day.Last edited by lacywest; 7th Dec 2011 at 04:38. Reason: added more text

Nope. I don't know what was wrong with it to be honest. And no.. it wasn't 'operator error'. LOL.. operator error.. LMAO. Right..
anyhow.. I'm not using anything special so to speak. Just your average basic A/V cables. I've got the A/V cables running directly to the back of the DVD player.. which run from the back of that, directly into the A/V 'input' jacks on the side of the DVD recorder.
I'm not saying that it works 'perfectly'... as it still cuts in and out, which tells me the 'copyright' protection is trying to keep the recorder from recording.. but it does it in random spurts. So, technically.. its "not working".. but at the same time, it is.
You ppl seem to know what your talking about.. sounds like I'll fit in just fine around this joint.Speaking of joint.. brb.
Damn, 29 years old.. almost 30 now... and I'm still doing the same things I was doing back in my teen years. LOL... RIPPING, CRACKING, ETC...
I remember back in the Win 3.1 days and even prior to that.. but the Win 3.1 days were the shit IMO. Carding was a LOT easier back then too.. though I don't mess with that any more. I had a scary morning, but it was years ago. Back when I first got my new 'Acer' P75MHZ. Man oh man, I thought I was the bomb back then.. LOL. That is, until I tried using generated CC information to obtain memberships to porn sites.. LOL. Anyhow, I used the generated CC info.. and I don't remember what it was I was trying to do.. I just remember my computer being remotely frozen and then rebooted remotely.. and then my 14.4k 'dial-up' modem being dropped. As soon as my connection/computer went AWOL.. the phone rang! Remember though, this is like at 5:30am in the ******* morning.. and I still lived with my mom back then..
I immediately answered the phone, and acted like the phone call had woken me up right? Some women on the other end says "who is this? the cc information you presented is incorrect and I've noticed you've tried using it multiple times on my website." I replied with "What?!? YOUR CALLING MY HOME AT RIDICULOUS HOURS ACCUSING ME OF CC FRAUD!?! HOW DARE YOU!! YOU'LL HEAR FROM MY LAWYERS! I'LL HAVE YOU IN SO MUCH LITIGATION, YOUR KIDS-KIDS.. WILL NEED LAWYERS.. CAPECHE!?!" The lady actually apologized and said.. "well, maybe someone used your IP # to do this.. and I sincerely apologize for any trouble that I may have caused you this morning." The phone call didn't last but maybe 45 seconds.. which back then, wasn't long enough for them to 'trace' or 'track' my location.
What I'm confused about.. is I was tunneling and I was behind at LEAST 10 proxies... so I'm still to this day trying to figure out how that bitch got my phone number.. and how they were able to remotely freeze my box, though back then it wasn't that hard to remotely shut down other peoples computers.. hell, its still not all that difficult if you know what your doing..
It's harder than it used to be.. no doubt.. but its still doable.
sorry for rambling.. maybe some decaf coffee next time?
peace. -

In this method, you are going from digital to analog, then re-digitizing that inferior analog signal. This does not make a pristine, bit-to-bit digital copy. If you are happy with that crap, that's fine. To make a true DVD rip, you should take Baldrick's advice.
Also, you may feel an emotional need to tell everyone all about yourself (and how cool you think you are), but it would best help us serve you if you kept your posts more concise, and just dealt with the technical issue at hand. We don't have the time to sort through episodes from your life story. -
Hello,
I'm experiencing the same problem you are. My company purchased this (before I worked here). The product says it's designed to copy home VHS videos to DVD. I have an old recording that does not have any copy protection because it was a home video-type recording and even though the image is almost perfect, every time you hit record the image cuts out and it says waiting for input signal.
So basically the way SONY marketed this product is incorrect. It would have been better if we had purchased one of the dumb DVD recorders at WalMart for this, they don't wait for a perfectly clean analog signal before recording to DVD.
The device is useless to us.

ooops. Gosh amighty, LOL! My bad.
You'd be amazed how many people do what the O.P. did and toot their horn about it. Then you tell them the facts of life and they just stare at you.- My sister Ann's brother
