I've been using Dvdshrink to extract one movie from a dvd that I recorded on my Dvd recorder.

It no longer recognizes each movie, so I've gone to Dvddecrypter, but I seem to be choosing wrong things to extract.

    Screen shot enclosed.

What is the proper way to extract one of the movies?

Looks like you're using "File Mode". If all you want is the MAIN MOVIE of a title, use "IFO Mode", and it'll even seek to the longest-running IFO (which is usually the main movie).

When you extract, you can do so either as a VOB (or series of VOBs), or extract to elementary streams (m2v video & lpcm/ac3/dts/mp2 audio).

You may want just a single large VOB, and if so, you should change the file limit settings in the IFO preferences tab. The default is multiple files <1GB each.

If you go the elementary streams route, you can mux them back together (into an MPG Program Stream) with Imago Muxer, Muxman, TMPGEnc, etc. The only hard part there is if you've got LPCM audio.

I used your method before, but tried it again.

I used IFO and picked one movie.

It said completed, but will not play.

Then there's something weird/wrong with your disc (scratches?) or PC setup, because I do this all the time with no problems. I'm talking scores (maybe even hundreds).

If you're still having trouble, you should try DVDFabHDDecrypter, or maybe even AnyDVD+ISOBuster (which might help if you had scratches).

This disc was recorded on my Dvd Recorder and plays just fine.
    Nothing wrong with it.

I used to use Dvdshrink in the Re author mode, but it only recognizes one of the recordings.

"Plays just fine" DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN "Nothing wrong with it".

Lots of players are dumb, sector-based devices which fairly ignore the filesystem intricacies that can foul up computer-based rippers. That's why things like ARCCos protections work.
Especially I would expect a recorder to play its OWN recordings well, even if other players might not.

So, even though the disc plays on the computer and I can rip one of the movies with Dvdshrink or Both with Dvddecrypter, you think there is a problem with the recording method?

These were just Tv shows on local tv - no protection involved.
