    Hi all,

I'm having problems with the output MPG1 files after cutting with TMPGenc.

The cut itself is done without any warnings and produces the promised files. However, after converting it to VCD's with EasyVCD (for instance) the VCD sometimes has playback errors like bad image, or even, not playable on standalone DVD player.

Thinking it could be caused by EasyVCD I decided to burn a VCD with Nero. When importing the MPG fie into Nero it's telling me that the file isn't up to VCD standards and needs to be converted to an MPG stream. Same thing happens in WinOnCD.
I then decided to repair the MPG file with MPEG header corrector. The "repaired" output file isn't working. Repair with VCDGear doesn't work cause the output file has the same problem.
OK, simple Multiplex in TMPGenc then. This ends with the warning "287628 s packets cause buffer underflow. The MPG file might cause error when it played."

By the way, the original uncut MPG file can be imported without warnings into Nero (way too big however, off course)
Furthermore, all files can be played using Mediplayer. So they are not really corrupt but somehow not to VCD stream standard anaymore.

Anyone have a clue on what's going on here? It seems that TMPGenc outputs a "corrupt" file after cutting. (Before cutting the correct template is loaded BTW, not sure if this is required but hey, I'm desperate )

Before you cut, did you change the drop down list to MPEG-1 Video-CD

files can be played using Mediplayer. So they are not really corrupt
Even Currupt files will play, and play passed any bad frames.

That was the step I missed.
Made an MPG cut to VCD standard and it works fine now.

I knew it was something simple

    Thanks for clearing this up!

  5. i have the following problem:

i downloaden such parts and i'm getting the same errors. I want to join the parts and then burn a videocd. I just join 'em with HJSplit (because tmpgenc won't join them), then I de-multiplex and multiplex (as vcd) again. then i get the underflow error. I just burn it anyway. When playing it on my standalone dvd player I get audio trouble... like repeated silences for split seconds.

    is there a solution?

Yes stop using all those programs, and get TMPGEnc to work. If they are .mpg and need fixing you need to re-encode them again, and hope they get past the junk.
