    Hello,

I recently shot some video footage overseas (Uzbekistan). My friend there transferred the data onto a Risheng DVD+R 4.7GB disk, manufactured in China.

The problem is that when I attempt to play the CD and view its contents, I get a message "no disk in drive." The drives on my computer are working normally for all other CD's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Melinda

You do have a DVD ROM drive in your computer right?.....not a CD ROM drive.

Thanks very much for your message. I am rather new to this type of information; however,

I checked under "Properties." My computer has a Samsung CD-R/RW SW-252S. The device type is a DVD/CD-ROM drive. It is working properly.

    .
First off, DVD and CD are two very different things and hold very different types of video/audio formats in very different folder/file structures.

    You say
I recently shot some video footage overseas (Uzbekistan)
We will all assume you shot it with a camcorder of some sort.

    The you say,
My friend there transferred the data onto a Risheng DVD+R 4.7GB
    What type of DATA ?
What format was it shot in or saved to ?

But seeing as you can not get it to show up in your drive i guess you could not check to see what format it is in.

    Back to the second comment,
My friend there transferred the data onto a Risheng DVD+R 4.7GB
How exactly did "your friend" transfer it to a dvdr ?
Because usually when a disc can not be read in a PC drive it is because of the disc not being finalized, more often than not, from a standalone dvd recorder.

Have you tried it in a standalone dvd player ?

This drive can only read and write CD discs. It cannot even read any DVD disc. See the first post here for confirmation of that:

Look at the list of disc types and you will see "No" next to all DVD types.

You will NEVER be able to play your disc using this drive.

I want to warn you that most people in the world know little to nothing about properly putting videos on discs so there is always some chance that even if you get access to a DVD drive that you will be able to do absolutely nothing with the disc. Then again it may work fine.
