My computer crashed, and I'm having to gather the freeware video programs I use all over again.

I downloaded WinFF last night, and when I did a test run noticed I couldn't get a display screen to appear to show the video I wanted to work with. The "Preview" button actually had the same effect as the "convert" button. It immediately began converting the video, not running it on a screen.

Is something wrong with my download of the program?

Let it finish it's work, you will get a preview when it's done working, just did a test run it works fine!

But it's supposed to be a preview.

I looked at the screen shots at the WinFF website, and they don't even show the "Preview" button, but what I downloaded has it...

It just doesn't do anything but trigger the conversion, as if I'm hitting the "Convert" button.

I seem to recall it showing you how the video would look AFTER conversion, but before you actually did it.

    Maybe my memory is faulty?

I don't mean to be rude, but you are not reading, the preview does work, look at the DOS screen do you see anything there that indicates it is encoding, I don't think so. it may take a couple of seconds or so for the preview screen to show up, but it does show the I even put in the same setting as you had , and it did a preview. I guess the best way to see this is press convert and watch the DOS box, now you will see encoding being done, now stop the encoding, and press preview, if you look at the DOS box very closely, you will not see any encoing being done, give the DOS box a few seconds do what needs to be done, then a preview window will show up.

Yes...it does have a "preview" and it does work.
I love WinFF but it's preview is quite silly in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about it.
