Black screen on second display

XP SP3, ATI Radeon HD 4550
primary: LCD monitor 1280x1024
secondary: HDTV 1920x1080 p
player: MPC-HC, DVXA enabled

Output is set to System Default:
DivX file can be played back on both displays
H264 file can only be played back on primary display; black screen if MPC-HC is located on the 2nd display
full-screen theater mode will work on second display for both DivX and H264

Output is set to VMR7 renderless:
Both DivX/H264 filse can only be played back on primary display; black screen if MPC-HC is located on the 2nd display
full-screen theater mode will work on second display for H264, but black screen for DivX

Output is set to VMR9 renderless:
Both DivX/H264 filse can only be played back on primary display; black screen if MPC-HC is located on the 2nd display
No full-screen theater second display

Is there any setting that I am missing?

Video overlay/hardware acceleration cause all this and it may be tricky to get it the way you want. I just set(keyboard shortcut) the hdtv to the primary when I play movies.
