    Hello everyone,
I've lately been having problems with a layer break on CMC DL DVDs, the problem arises when playing the avi dvd on my panasonic blu-ray player. I can play most of the file fine but towards the end it freezes, and i think it is due to the layer break on the DL dvd.

I am using imgburn to burn the avi divx dvd, but twice i have burned it and it stops on both of the videos and basically just freezes completely and within about 20 seconds goes back to the blu ray menu. I can't ff it for some reason as these avi files don't ff. the dvd plays fine on my pc with media player but freezes on the media player.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks a lot
    Ryan

  4. Freezing towards the *end* would suggest the problem isn't the layer break as such, just crummy media. While I use CMC single-layer discs for "tossers" from time to time, CMC double-layer blanks have such a bad reputation that nothing could induce me to buy them.

And what's an AVI DVD? Do you mean a re-encode to DVD-Video or a data disc?

    Anyway, welcome to the forum.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

I believe Imgburn will notice if you're trying to burn a data disc with AVIs in the base folder (probably .divx files, as well), ask you if you're trying to burn a disc for use with a DivX/Xvid-capable DVD player... and if so, change the settings so the disc will be more compatible with those players. I don't remember offhand what settings it changes, though.

masherdude: Are you sure your AVIs are completely compatible with your player? Check this post for some problems which DivX/Xvid-capable DVD/BD players might not like.
