    Hi

I downloaded LameACM 3.98.4, extracted it to C:\lame and did what the howto told me:

    1. Extract it to for example c:\lame
    2. Run cmd with admin rights (ctrl+shift+return)
    3. cd %windir%\SysWOW64
    4. rundll32 setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 0 C:\lame\LameACM.inf
Then I see shortly the inf installing/copying dialog. The files lameACM.acm abd lame_acm.xml got copied in System32, so it seems lame got installed, but I still don't see the lame MP3 codec in VirtualDub x64 1.9.10.

Do you have any Idea why?

I tried to install ffdshow tryouts as a workaround, but it seems this only works for video encoding, I don't see ffdshow in the audio codec list.

Edit: When I install this lame64.zip it works, LameMP3 is in VDub64. But with the original LameACM Codec not. The lameACM.acm of the 64bit-package is from 2007, if I change it with 3.98.4, LameMP3 dissappears from VDub. Is there a way to get an actual version to running with VDub?

LameACM won't show up in VirtualDub x64 because it's a 32-bit codec, as far as I'm aware. 32-bit codecs won't be visible to 64-bit programs, and vice versa.

You could try the 32-bit version of VirtualDub and see if it appears there.

Ah, so the x64 howto in the official LameACM-package is meant how to get the codec run for x32-tools in a x64 host system?

I misunderstood that But okay, I compared the rendering speed in x32 Vdub and x64 Vdub, and there was absolutely no difference. So I will use 32 bit codecs, VirtualDub and AviSynth - no need for x64 experiments with inofficial and old builds.

    Thanks for your help.

Yeah, I haven't seen any notable advantage between the x64 and x32 versions of VirtualDub on my system, so I just use the x32 version (even though I have both installed). The fact that nearly all of my video tools, codecs and filters are 32-bit has nothing to do with it, honest. (Though that I could never - for some reason - get subtitles working for x64 programs did...)
