    Hey

I want to convert a mp4 file to mpg to make it playable on my DVD player. I've tried converting it, but then the quality was too low.
I'm not very good at this, but here are the details:

    Format: H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
    Bitrate: 2135 kbps
    Framerate: 23.976 FPS
    Encoder: x264
    Resolution: 1280 x 528
    Aspect Ratio: 2.40:1
    Advanced Encoding: 2-Pass Encoding
    Quality Factor QF:0.140
    Format: AAC-LC
    Bitrate: AAC = 128 kbps / AAC 5.1 = 300 kbps
    Channels: AAC-LC= 2 / AAC 5.1 = 6 channels
    Sample Rate: 48000Hz

How can I convert it and keep the quality - what values etc. do I need to choose? Thanks a lot!

You can't keep the (almost) hd quality as dvd is limited to 720x480/576. But try as high bitrate as possible.

Here's a preset (unzip before use) as attachment. First load the source file, then load the preset. Check out what settings are made by browsing through the tabs.
The conversion will lower the resolution to DVD "Standard Definition", which will result in less detail, perhaps like so:

ffmpegX will not keep the 5.1 audio when converting AAC to AC3, but convert to stereo.
