    Is there any alternative software capable of reading the Hauppauge 1212 HD PVR to record video directly as an AVI/MPEG instead of TS/MP4/M2TS?

    Spec sheet only lists the h.264 codec which is a form of MPEG. You can put h.264 in an AVI wrapper but you might have problems finding a player.

    H.264 more commonly is placed in a TS/MTS/MP4/M2TS wrapper all of which are MPEG.
