Is this an indication of bad/cheap media or a burner problem? I've noticed that when I burn a BD-R with ImgBurn using an LG WH10LS30 that I can see (for lack of a better word) white "speckles" that are sometimes "dotted" throughout the disk or are sometimes "clumped" together and look like fingerprint smears (though they're not). In most cases the disk will play with no noticeable problems, but in the worst cases the video will "jump" or freeze in the player. I've used two different burners (same model) and a variety of less expensive disks (roughly $2.50 per disk), CMC (CMCMAGPBA3), Philips (PHILIPR04), and Ritek (RITEK BR2). Thanks.

Thanks. I assume "low-grade" = "less expensive" media. So what would be considered better quality? I've seen TDK and Verbatim media that's US$18.00 per disk, which is pretty expensive.

    Verbatim.

Discs are not $18 each -- you're shopping in the wrong places.

Thanks. I guess it's time to step up to Verbatim.

Didn't Verbatim recently start using an inferior manufacturer or something? I've been hearing bad things about them recently. I like Taiyo Yuden for DVDR, but I've never seen TY BD-Rs. Are the Verbatim ones really still good? Or is there something better? Sony? TDK?

No. You've not been following the whole conversation.

    Plus that was about DVDs.

The Blu-ray thing was between the two variations of discs. Not the same.
BD-R LTH vs BD-R (high to low v. low to high)
Complaints were about LTH, due to compatibility in equipment.
