Hello all,
I have a pretty simple question. I own a Dual Core 2.93 GhZ Intel, 4GB DDR2, 1GB ATI Radeon 4600 HD Video Card and a 17" Fujitsu Siemens Flatscreen Monitor at 1280x1024 75Hz.
Before today, i had an old 17" monitor at 1024x768 and my PC got stuck at playing a 720p .mkv with KMPlayer. I Installed PowerDVD and it completely screwed up my Windows 7, locking me out of my system and i ended up performing a reinstall and losing all my data.
Now that i got the new monitor, can anyone tell me what, if any, codecs or players should i install, preferably free or lightweight, or any other tips i can use in order to correctly play 720p or 1024 mkv files or even BluRay Rips.
Thank You.

try vlc or media player classic, they will play most things. only install codecs as needed. don't go the codec pack route.
