My trusty Sony DVP-S325 may be on its way out or need cleaning / updating or something as its kinda sticking/skipping on most of the last lot of backups i have done lately. On both Verbatim +R DL (Burnt @ 2.4x) & also on Vebatim -R SL (Burnt @ 8x). Seems to play all my bought collection fine (apart from the fact that it has never handled the layer breaks well since day dot) so im not really sure whats going on here but if i do end up having to get a new player (more than 3 years old rule apply?) i would be looking for a fairly decent player which switches layers much more seamlessly. Seems odd aswell but i have noticed that the kids players (various cheapo models from ASDA / Wallmart) don't trigger any noticable pause at all. Anyway any advice would be great.

Interesting enough I have a Yamaha BDS-2900 bluray player that hates the layer breaks on a DVD however I removed the layer break information
using IMGBURN to show seamless on layer break and problem solved...Is this worth a try for a possible work around.

    You have been warned.

Cheers for the replies ...yeh i can take the layer break out when backing up single layer DVD's, but what i'm interested in is which players don't trigger the "slight pause" when playing commercially authored (shop bought) DVD's?

    P.S. Why is Sony evil?

Finding a player that eliminates the layer break pause on each and every DVD ever made is an impossible task. Finding a player that eliminates the layer break pause on each and every DVD that you own is also a very tall order to fill.

Because the cheapo players were NOT made by Sony,
    to begin with.
