New to dvd-to-xvid conversion, and I've searched the site for info, but still have some questions. I've been converting dvds to xvid on a laptop, Intel Celeron 2.60 GHz, 576 RAM, and it's taking 10 hours to convert a full Dvd5, or run filters on existing AVI (xvid). I've tried AutoGK, Avidemux, and Virtualdub. Usually I'm setting it up for two-pass with target size 800 MB, though I also tried the Quality setting in Avidemux. Usually convert AC3 audio to mp3.
Is 10 hours typical for PC with aforementioned specs?
When specifying target size, does the size have any bearing on conversion time (smaller size means longer time)?
Does adding filters add alot of time to it?
Should running a typical xvid (700-900MB) thru these programs (with a filter) take just as much time as converting (with filters) a dvd to xvid?
