Hi!
I'm using DivxLand Media Subtitler to create subtitles for some videos, with the Press and hold function. And it's working very well. The only problem is the positioning of the subtitles. I would like to put the subtitles over the black bars below and embed them there. Is there a way of doing it in this program? I have been trying different things for weeks but nothing has worked so far.
If it's not possible in this program, then is there an alternative way through which I could first create the subtitles using the Press and hold function, then use another program to change the position. And then reload everything in DivxLand Media Subtitler and embed the subtitles into the video.
I would be very grateful for your help.

I don't know that program but normally you would add a black border to the bottom of the frame so the subtitles get rendered there. I've done that with VirtualDub and SRT subtitles.

The black area is already there in my videos. It's below and above the picture. I want the subtitles to appear on the black area below. And I want to do that using DivxLand Media Subtitler.

An even better test is to open the files in virtualdub or AVI Demux

Jagabo! yes the black bars are already there in my videos. And the bars are permanent. They are there in both full screen and in small size. I want to put subtitles on the black area below. Because important objects appear on the lower part of the frame in many videos. So I want to put the subtitles below the video frame.
My videos are in avi format and I have srt subtitle files. I'm using the Press and hold system of the subtitler to apply the subs. -
So you are burning the SRT subs into the video and re-encoding? What is the frame size and how this is the bottom border? Where are the subs being drawn. Post a sample image. Most programs will not write subs too low in the frame because televisions usually overscan. If the subs are too low you won't see them on TV.

If you have avi with srt subtitles, you can use something like Media Player Classic with Vobsub and position the subtitles any way you like. (see screenshot 3 and 1). Or if you want to convert the avi/srt to DVD, you can use something like DVDFlick and set the subtitle position any way you like. (see screenshot 2) Then the DVD will play back on standalone into your TV with the subtitles position set to your desire.

I don't re-encode the videos myself. And I don't think that DivxLand Media Subtitler re-encodes either. And I'm not going to make a dvd either. I am going to post some videos on my Facebook page. I'm posting these two sample pictures just to give you the idea about what I want to do.
In the file above, you see that the subtitles are still in the lower area of the frame.(That snapshot is not from my original clip. My clips are encoded into avi files with aspect ratio of 4:3 and have black bars above and below).
I would like to bring the subtitles below the frame, on the black area. Like in the picture above.
I hope you understand now.
Thanks. -
I know what you want to do. My point is that programs that render SRT subtitles normally just put them near the bottom of the frame. They don't know the difference between real picture and black bars encoded into the frame. If the video has a black bar at the bottom of the frame and it is thick enough the subtitles will be in the black bar. If your black bar isn't thick enough you have to make it thicker (and recompress) or find a setting in the software that will let you lower the subtitles.
Here's a little sample video with a thick black bar at the bottom of the frame and an SRT file for it. Most subtitle renderers will place the subs completely within the black bar. Not because they know it's a black bar but simply because the black bar is thick enough.

Thanks for the reply. I get your point. Now please tell me how I should recompress my videos in order to make both bars thick. What settings should I use in the video encoder?

There are many guides here for reencoding video. I would use VirtualDub with the TextSub filter (part of VobSub) to make AVI files.
