This is more of an Illegal Disc Issue with Nero, but im unable to burn with other software, so not sure what to do.

My Burner has always been a picky one. It only burns on Verbatim media. Which I dont mind getting, just one of those things where I wished it would burn on other medias. This time however, I ran out and grabbed a new stack of DVD-Rs, verbatims like I always use, but I am unable to burn, not just in Nero, but other programs as well.

My drive is a NEW ND-2510a. It has never been flashed or updated since I have recieved it sum years ago, never really needed to do it. Ive tired finding drivers out there, but seem like its all programs that want to update your drivers for you. My DMA is on and Ive never had issues burning before, just with other media, but now I cant burn at all.

This is the log I get from Nero with I get the illegal Disc error.

    Existing drivers:

    Registry Keys:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon\AllocateCDROMs : 0 (Security Option)
Im really not sure what I can do from here aside from updating my drivers, even them im having trouble finding the actual drivers to update my drive. Unless this is a bad batch of media, im just not sure.

Any information would be much appreciated.
    Thank you

I suspect the issue is that you have an older NEC. Do you have the same problem if you drop the burn speed down? Have you tried running an optical lense cleaner through the drive?

The second i read that my first thought was exactly the same as lowellriggsiam & budz.....
    Seriously, "NEW" ??

I have a couple of 3520's and they are at least a few years old!!
And have burned literally 1000's of DVDR's!!

    Oop's....

since I have recieved it sum years ago
Well then it is NOT "NEW"
    LOL!!

    Talk about a lossferwords

Seriously, a burner that old, i would not even waste my time posting asking about it not working, i would just go to newegg and buy a new one for a measly $25.00 including shipping!!

haha I didnt even realize I wrote new, i meant to put NEC XD but yeah its not even close to being a new drive, but yeah, it is probably time for a new one. Ive tried changing speeds and what not, but its been the same. Reads just fine, but I guess its that time for a new one, wouldnt surprise me with the amount of burning ive done with it, served me well, but thanks for the advice, will definitely look into a new one
