Hello, I have edited and encoded a video to MPEG-2. I want to add my own subtitles, and I've create such with Subtitle Workshop, but unsure where to go next. I've been using Vegas DVD Architect Studio, but there doesn't seem to be a subtitle version. Can I mux the subtitles into a new MPEG-2 then author like I usually do, or do I have to do that during the authoring step?

If you want switchable subs you have to do it in the authoring step. Can't dvd architect import any subs? Sounds strange. GOOOGLE.

Yea, I've been Google-ing for a couple days now. I'm using the Studio version of DA, don't see any soft-subtitle options there. DA's online helps finds nothing regarding subtitles. I know how hard subtitles in Movie Studio, but I'm trying to due soft ones now. Sorry, I wasn't clear about that.
What software would you recommend to mux in soft subtitles?
Thank you. -
If this DVD Architect can't handle subs of any kind, and you absolutely have to use it for authoring (why?), then make the DVD without subs, take the assets (audio, video, chapters) and add in subs authoring a second time using Muxman (this time without menus), and then use the 'Replace' button on VobBlanker to replace the subless DVD with the subbed one, keeping the menus. Baldrick has a guide outlining 2 ways to do this (the 2nd method is the better of the 2, I think):

Thank you manono, I saw this but was looking for a shorter path. I'll give it a try.

Hehe, the obvious shorter path is to use an authoring program that allows for the import of subtitles.

There are good and free authoring programs that allow you to make menus and accept subtitle input. Have a look at DVDAuthorGUI, GUI4DVDAuthor, and/or DVD Styler.
