    Hello everyone,

hope someone can help me. I have my TV, DVD player, Sky Box and VCR all hooked up along with spears in different corners of the room. Anyhow for some unknown reason the speakers have stopped working other than when the DVD player is playing something? There is still a slight noise like a small buzzing noise and if you listen carefully you can hear what is on the TV. But the TV speakers still work?

I don't understand it? I have swapped the Scarts, made sure they were in properly etc etc? Why are the speakers still working when I play a DVD but not when I play a Video or a just watch regular TV ie through Sky? I can't understand it?

    PLease help?

How can we help you when you leave us in the dark? No mention of TV model number, DVD model, Skybox model, etc. No mention of what the speakers are plugged directly into. (A stereo amp, perhaps; or a DVD player with surround sound amp? Did you select the proper source on the amp?) No mention of hookups other than SCART. We cannot see which outputs are plugged in which inputs. Can you take some pictures for us?

We don't have your user's manuals, but we could download pdfs, if we knew what you had.

    Otherwise, don't expect answers.

OK, I have only one speaker and it's plugged into the back of the TV which you can see on this picture.

There is a scart going from the DVD players to the TV, a scart from the Sky box to the VCR, a scart from the VCR to the TV.

Oh my...your pictures are all of the fronts of the units, and none indicate what outputs are going to what inputs. If you are daisy-chaining your SCART (really?) hookups, you likely have a cutoff somewhere in the chain -- most likely at the VCR. For one thing, the VCR's input should be selected to the Sky box; the VCR must be turned on; and the TV set should be monitoring the VCR. But I cannot tell for sure, since none of those photos depict the actual way things are connected.

What a mess. The front of your TV has nothing plugged into the AV inputs, you can run something separate right there, and not have to do so much daisy-chaining.

You are asking why your TV speakers stopped working, when I am wondering how they ever worked in the first place.

  6. Also check your tv to see if it has a AUDIO menu to turn speakers on.
