  1. Hi, I just bught a MP4 player, primarily for playing music videos in mpeg2. If the file is recorded directly from DVB-S (satellite) and is edited by VideoReDo utility, all is ok. But files, which were recently AVI and are converted to mpeg2 by utilities such as Super or TMPGEnc do problems - sound is out of sync with picture. The only way I found how to make a good file is conversion by VirtualDub into uncompressed AVI and then encoding by TMPGEnc. This problem concerns only mp4 player. PC playback or DVD authoring is ok. Seems to me that mpeg2 from DVB-S and encoded mpeg2 are somehow different. Strange - GSpot utility shows no substantial difference.
So I ask - what might be different? What can I do with encoded mpeg2? Can I repair it somehow ?
    Thanks.

What type of sync error? Gradually changing sync error as the file plays or the same sync error the length of play?

The first is usually caused by the audio and video files being different lengths. You would have to change one or the other. I use Audacity to change the length of the audio file most times.

The second is usually caused by a missing audio offset or several other problems, including VBR audio, errors in the audio or video file, etc. You can apply an audio offset to correct the sync. MPC has a slider where you can adjust sync, then note the amount and apply that with several programs. I usually use VirtualDub to do that with AVI type files.

  3. Seems to me that it's the constant delay. But how should I repair it if the PC playback is OK...

Nevertheless after many tries I found a way how how to make a good mpeg2.
    - The only working utility is Super. There is a checkbox in upper right corner called 48K/44K. The checkbox must be UNCHECKED. I don't know the connection between 48Khz audio option which I had always set. But I had alwas the mentioned checkbox checked and that was the problem.
However the primary fault must be in player's firmware...
