    Hello

I just purchased Dazzle Instant DVD.
My Question is - I want to copy my VHS tapes to my Hard drive and then burn them to 4.7gig DVD
The problem is the images are 7.5 gigs in size - What free compression software can I use to compress the video image in order to burn on a 4.7 gig dvd disk.

If some one could also provide the procedure - that would be great.

    Thanks again

A DVD-5 is actually 4.37GB. What format are the 7.5GB video files in at present? And more importantly, what is the running time of the video? You can get a bit more than a hour of MPEG video on a DVD at best quality, or 2 hours at very good quality. Beyond that, it gets a bit harder.

If they are MPEG, you might try ReJig. It can transcode the MPEG to a smaller size that may work for you. But to create a DVD, you also have to author the MPEG to the DVD format and structure with a authoring program before you can burn it to a disc. Unless you just want a MPEG file, but not all set top players can handle those.

Next question, you said 'video image'. Do you mean a ISO file? That requires a few more steps. But if the file is already in DVD format (A VIDEO_TS folder with VOBs, IFOs, BUPs), then you could use DVD Shrink as it can accept a VIDEO_TS folder or a ISO of the folder.

And if you need a authoring program, try GUI for dvdauthor. For burning, use ImgBurn. For DVD media, use Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or some other decent brand and you will have less problems. BTW, those tools all have guides at the bottom of their tool page and we have other guides to the upper left on this page.

    And welcome to our forums.
