    OK...I'm crawling out from underneath a rock and admit it's been quite some time since I've really had to need to rip, burn, normalize, etc. audio files on my PC. Previously, I really just used CDex, WinAmp, MP3Gain and MusicMatch for a lot of my audio tasks.

    Fast forwarding a couple years, what software would be considered ideal for performing most of the typical management that would be required for audio files?

    my favorites are dbpoweramp for ripping/converting, soundforge for manipulating, mediamonkey for organizing, and cd architect for burning.

    the freeware - Audacity - could be used in place of most of them.

    CDex, WinAmp, MP3Gain are still the three I use most... MP3DirectCut too.
