So I am capturing my old Hi8 tapes using VirtualDub and messing around with filters.

I don't have the time to do this and was wondering if someone can recommend a software package that will make the video look better (de-interlacing, stability, etc)?

or perhaps point me to a tutorial that shows me the process of which filters to run it through to get the best results for Hi8 video. I have spent hours messing around with the different filters and I just can't decide!

How about NO filters unless there is a specific problem with the source video itself. How are you capturing the footage to your computer? Video capture card? Analog connection to camcorder with firewire? How? What codec are you selecting -- MPEG2, DV-AVI or something else? How do you plan to primarily display the videos: on a DVD player, on a PC, on Youtube, or what? Is there something wrong with video levels or stability that demand some sort of processing? You need to answer all these questions before making decisions about filters.

EDIT: Dang, I just discovered you are cross-posting -- a big no-no. (Read the Forum rules.) Continue with the thread you already started... https://forum.videohelp.com/topic378372.html

    Behave yourself.
