    Hi there,

I've got some .rm movies files that I'd like to convert to use on an Ipod Video. I am using an Intel iMac and am new to all this. I've downloaded and installed ffmpegX but don't seem to be getting anywhere with that. It just exits after a second or so when I hit Encode and leaves an empty output file. Perhaps someone knows of an easier solution? Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

BTW - this is what the .rm files are composed of:

    @ RM video:

I've never gotten rm video files to successfully encode to anything else either through ffmpegx.
The approach I've taken instead is to:

    (1) Launch iShowU on the mac and set it to hijack the stream from Real Media Player 10
    (2) use Real Media Player 10 for the Mac, and have it playback the rm video.
    (3) iShowU then hijacks the video, and writes it in real time to a DV stream file.
    (4) I Then take the DV Stream file into either ffmpegx, VisualHub, or Quicktime Pro and
make an iTunes compatible mp4 file. ( I personally like VisualHub for this, as it's presets
let me customize encoding quickly to fit a certain type of iPod ( 5g, Nano) )
    (5) done.
