I have a dvd player that can play xvid files and I was wondering if it's possible to make dvd menu without converting my xvid files to dvd format?

If your player is Divx Ultra Certified, and if you author them correctly with one of the few unreliable and time consuming tools and in many cases, re-encode the files, then yes, you can have menus on your Divx discs.

I have yet to hear of anyone doing this successfully and finding the trouble worth the the results.

Just to make it clear, DVD AVI menus are only possible with Divx Ultra, not Xvid. At least AFAIK.

At best they will get repackaged into a .divx container. Most likely they will get re-encoded and put in the .divx container.

Can an Ultra video even call other (separate) videos on the same disc? If not, that'd probably defeat the purpose of using it to make a menu for a DivX/Xvid data disc, unless you combine all the videos into a single .divx file. :/
