Hi, I have a Dazzle DVD Recorder and I use it as a capture card because I do not have a PCI slot. However, I see a lot of peoples captures in great quality and not that bigger file size. However, I use Windows Movie Maker at 1mb per minute of capture and the quality isn't GREAT. Is it the Dazzle itself or WMM?

There are a great many people who hate the Dazzle systems, yet while I use Canopus firewire capture hardware and very expensive software for the highest-quality work, my cheap Pinnacle Dazzle 100 USB capture device and Pinnacle DVD recorder software works perfectly fine for ordinary tasks.

Some people claim that the Pinnacle software doesn't allow video to disk recording, it does and it works fine. My file sizes are just about what I'd expect. They can be made smaller with various video editing and recoding software (such as Video Studio 11 or Nero Recode as well as many other competitors).

Don't get me wrong, Pinnacle's products aren't particularly good, but they're not bad, either. They're good enough.

I think your main problem is that you are worrying about "file size". Video takes up hard drive space....but if you are intending to put it to DVD....that space that is eaten up is only temporary.

"1mb per minute of capture and the quality isn't GREAT". Seems to me it's the bitrate. MPEG2 for DVD is typically 2 GigaBytes (or more) per hour. 1mb per minute is only 60mb per hour.
