  1. Hi,

First off, my apologies if this is a stupid question that I should know the answer to, but I've been through the guides and FAQ and haven't seen an answer.

I'm basically looking for a website where I can download films and/or tv programmes that I can then burn onto dvd. Are there subscription based/individual purchase based sites that offer this?

If so, what are the favoured sites among the users here?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am not a 100% certain on this but Amazon.com lets you buy online and download. The uncertain part is I don't know if you can burn or not.
I downloaded a couple of free videos there and it gave me licence to load them onto another device ( like ipod or archos) or another computer.
Different free videos each week or so, Some are indie, some are stuff you wouldn't watch even for free ...but there are a few good ones to.....last one I got was "Charade", 1963 Cary Grant & Audrey Hepburn.

  5. Thanks all,

I was actually hoping to be able to download more current titles - I'm happy to pay for copyright protected stuff, it's just that I live in the middle of nowhere and don't have ready access to the new releases. I have dvd hire by post, but it's agonisingly slow.

Maybe I'm being naïve, but I'd have thought you could download recent releases if you're willing to pay.

As an example, I found these two:

    http://www.zml.com/
    http://www.getsomefreemovies.com/

But have no idea if they're any good, hence my query.

I assume they're legitimate sites - or have I unknowingly provided links to warez sites?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Sites you listed: 1 is located in Russia and advises "follow laws in your country" other says membership is not a licence for copyright infringment.

I would speculate that they are not 100% legal ....but who knows.

You can rent movies online for a buck....but burning to dvd is equal to buying because you have forever...I just don't see how it could be legit and profitable for someone....that being said:

Some that rent and sell online:
Amazon.com does have modern movies, new releases as such. I was just pointing out that they even had ones for free since everyone views amazon.com as a place to buy things.

http://www.cinemanow.com rents movies for down load as low as 99 cents.
