  1. My sony trv19 has stopped working correctly. The video flickers and becomes very pale looking. I tried cleaning it but it didn't help.

So I'm looking to buy a new camcorder and I'm thinking of getting the canon hv20 or hv30.

Which battery provides the most recording time? BP-2L14, BP-2L24H, BP-2L13, or NB-2LH?

Since the viewfinder doesn't extend, does a large battery and the DM-50 microphone make the viewfinder unusable?

Does a minidv tape hold the same amount of hdv video as it does dv? How?

What wide angle lens should I get? I had .45x wide angle on my trv19 and it was a
    litte too wide at times.

I also need to know if the hv20 with a wide angle lens and a larger battery will fit in my old sony handycam case, including the detached microphone.

i'd suggest going to a video store and trying it out. actually putting your hands on the cam and shooting some footage with it will give you an indication of whether or not you will like it. take your old bag with you.

I usually recommend going the semi-pro route and at least getting a cam with LANC to use with your remote controller on your tripod...but it adds around $500 and 50 lbs...but the shots are great

    convenience is evidently king...
