My friend who recently bought HD camera says that when he adjust camera to record full HD (1080i) on mini DV cassete, he can record up to 45min, while 60 min when adjust to record on DV quality (720x576}.
    Is it true?
    Regards.

  2. Almost.

Yes, you can record 1080i HD on MiniDV cassettes - MiniDV camcorders and HDV camcorders use exactly the same mechanism/cassette format.

The 45min is wrong - HDV and DV record at the same tape speed. He/she may be confusing HDV with DVCAM. DVCAM is the same as DV but runs at a faster tape speed giving 40mins on a 60min MiniDV tape.
