Hi All,
So, yes I am a newbie to this forume's , her but certainly not a newbie to tech forums. Regardless, here's my issue:
I do a lot of BitTorrenting for hi-q version of movies (I've gotten sick of buying DVDs in BestBuy, ripping them to my computer and putting the case in my closet). So, naturally, I get movies in several formats (avi, divx, mpeg, etc.). I'm currently using AShampoo 7 and it takes around an hour to "Prepare the DVD" and about 5 minutes to actually burn it. Here's the question: How can I speed this process up?
Thanks,
- Patrick

My first suspicion is the 'preparing' is actually the encoding of the file to a MPEG-2 DVD compliant format, then authoring it to DVD before it's burned. If so, that's about normal for some programs. But if you are just burning the files as data discs in whatever format they were, that should only take a few minutes.
As many files off the net are Xvid/Divx format, you might look into a Divx player and save yourself some time. Converting to DVD format will decrease the qualility anyway.
And welcome to our forums. -
So how exactly do you go from actually buying DVD's, putting them onto your computer, and then putting the originals in the closet (which infers that you are using the files ON your computer), to downloading movies and burning them onto DVD's (which infers use in a standalone player)? Your logic doesn't make any sense.
Anyway, conversion time varies between software and is hardware dependent. To speed up the process, you need faster hardware (ie: cpu).
And as redwudz pointed out, it is much less hassle to simply invest in a decent Divx player. It saves conversion time, uses less media, and preserves the quality.Google is your Friend
