I just use the standard bubble padded envelope mailers from Staples or similar. Most any office supply store should have them also. They are lighter than regular padded envelopes and resist damage from heavy weights being placed on the package.

There may be cardboard mailers locally avialable, but I've found the bubble padded envelopes offer better protection. The 81/2" X 11" would likely be the closest fit. I think the smaller sizes are too small, but I use them for DVD/CDs in a jewel box.

If you are shipping more a few and you want a box from a online dealer, then check a site like: http://www.uline.com/Group_154.asp?pricode=WG938
    OR http://www.packagingsupplies.com/DVD_Shipping_Boxes.html OR http://www.squaredealonline.com/browse.asp?v=117

Lots of other online sites for DVD shipping boxes by doing a Google search for ' dvd shipping boxes '.

There is a 9x6 padded envelope which "appears" to be the "perfect" fit but in actually it is just a tad too tight and you end up splitting it or ruining the sleeve on the DVD case.

    I know ... I've tried LOL

You need a padded envelope that is just slightly bigger.

Check out this link: CLICK HERE

This is just a padded envelope but it is made for DVD cases. Instead of the standard 9x6 size (which as I said isn't big enough) this one is 6 1/2 x 7 inches. It's the perfect fit. Only problem is you have to mail order these as I've never found them in stores and that includes several big box "office supply" stores as they only seem to carry the more standard 9x6 size. However even with S&H these special sized padded envelopes shouldn't cost you more than about 35 cents each but you will have to order them in boxes of 100 ... you can't just order like 10 of them LOL

However there is a good alternative ... If you are "charging" people for mailing then in my opinion the best solution is PRIORITY MAIL. Why do I say that? Well when you ship PRIORITY MAIL they provide you with envelopes and boxes etc. and the USPS makes a PRIORITY MAIL box called, "Priority Mail Large Video Box (O-1096L)", and this is the perfect size for DVD cases.

It actually is dead on perfect for two DVD cases but if you put just one case in then all you have to do is wrap it up in something to take up the "dead space" so that it doesn't bounce about. The USPS also offers free tyvek envelopes and using one of those is perfect as it protects the single case and makes it fit snugly so it doesn't bounce about. Should be able to get both free at the post office ... otherwise order from them on-line. They ship them to you all for free.

So sure PRIORITY MAIL costs more but the packaging is free. Best choice if you are charging for shipping as far as I am concerned. However if these are just DVD discs you are mailing to family and friends and you are trying to do it on the cheap then the special 6 1/2 x 7 inch padded envelopes are best. You can mail then via media mial which is cheap (although it can take longer but still should be no more than about 1 week or so).
