Hello. I recently downloaded a 37-min video of Obama giving a speech just to see how large the file was. I was surprised to see that it was only 90 MB. This surprised me because an eight-minute video shot with my digicam (Kodak Z612, produces videos with .mov extension) at a resolution of 320 x 240 would be about 90 MB. So, in light of this, I have two questions.

    (1) How did they record a CNN video? I remember that with VCRs you can't record on cable channels. What's changed.

    (2) How did they make such a temporally long video file so small in terms of file size? Although the image quality isn't what I would call the best, it's still not half bad.

try looking inside your obama speech with
    mediainfo
    or
    gspot
    and see what it says
then compare the info with your mov
