TMPGE Merge and Cut

I have come across a problem I have'nt experienced before.
I have TMPGE 2.53.
Last night I encoded a movie succesfully.Today (as I normally do)opened TMPGE once again to use the Merge and Cut function to split the movie into 2.
I added the file,then double clicked on it (normally it goes to the window that allows the setting of the of the cut and merge) but this time it went to a blank grey coloured screen.I could not do anything but reset my computer.I tried again and the same result.To make sure that I did not have a bug in TMPGE ,I opened another encoded file and it worked as normal.I opened the problem movie in Virtualdub to view the file information and nothing looked out of the ordinary.
Any suggestions?

Did you crash at anytime, sounds like the mpeg has become corrupt on your hard drive, has scandisk run ?

Try loading it into TMPGEnc again for merge and cut, but don't use the edit, change the drop down to VCD mpeg, and run.

That will make another copy of the whole thing, and maybe fix the problem, you could click on the correct button also..
