Is there really a difference between $19.99 and $99.99 HDMI Cable? Or is it sales person just want to sell something unnecessary? I noticed some advertised (Monster) speed Gbps etc...I dont know if this is significant in watching HDTV.

No difference IMHO. I have bought inexpensive HDMI cables from Monoprice and Fry's and they work for 1080p. The HDMI cable that came with my Oppo 980H DVD player certainly isn't a Monster cable. The Monster cable may be heavier gauge wire and more fancy wrapping, but heavy wire isn't needed for digital signals. Steve W.

Unless it's a very long cable, I certainly wouldn't pay $99 for a piece of wire, even if the ends were gold plated and a salesmen came to my house to install it.

Most if not all good cables are gold plated, even the OPPO freebies (which I agree are good cables). Without getting into the whole expensive cable arguement, gold plating is a great feature as it doesn't oxidize like crap cables will.Originally Posted by redwudz
