  1. I've got a UK Pal VCR that will playback NTSC tapes, and a generic capture card that uses one of the "Bt8xx" chips and I'm trying to capture from a couple of NTSC tapes that I have. I've got the updated drivers from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/index.html.

I've been through a lot of the different settings that these drivers enable but I still can't get a decent NTSC capture. I either get a fuzzy largely black and white picture, or using one of the Pal input formats I can get a clear picture with correct colours but it's part way rolled over so that the top of the pictureis at the bottom of the screen.

I'm assuming that the output from the VCR isn't pure NTSC so can anyone shed any light of what settings I should change for a good capture? When I sellect either NTSC or Pal or Secam I can then change things like UYVY, and YV12 which means nothing to me.

  2. Now managed to get a decent input into the new capture card by sellecting Pal60, but I'm having problems with my capture results.

If I use Video Vegas 3.0a the the resulting avi seems to jump backwards every few seconds. In virtual dub I get horizontal lines that are especially obvious during motion and scene changes.

    Any suggestions anyone?

  3. Maybe you're field order is wrong during capture - see if your capture will allow you to select which field A or B to capture first.

Virtualdub has some filters for interlace I think to smooth things out.
