Region Code Enhancement (RCE) http://www.dvdtalk.com/rce.html is a possibility if so set MTR's "RCE Region" to region two when ripping.
This http://www.mrbass.org/mac/dvd/mactheripper/ may also be of use. Also according to that guide is the "New region" (for the copy on your hard drive) set to ALL, this applies mostly to hardware playback with a DVD player and television NOT a computer.

Did you try setting the RCE? Also try playing the files back in VLC.

Are you by any chance trying to play it in a "sony" dvd player
Assuming you mean your standalone player seeing as you were not real specific.

Do you mean region as in PAL vs NTSC. If the disc is from Europe then it might not play here.

This forum thread tells how to convert the disc over, if you really want to do that much work. It would be easier to buy a new tabletop player.

that only applies to the play back device and you should look under dvd hacks https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks for your model the result may involve flashine with a specific cd or entering a code using the remote

    Download myDVDEdit (free)
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/16595
Open the ripped file in myDVDEdit and look to the lower right window. Tab across the top - cllick General, tab left hand side, click Dvd, and this will give you a list of the regions it should play in. Make sure ALL are checked, or do so yourelf. Save this file and then burn.

  18. I recommend to not check the region 7, some players (and DvdToOne) do not like that.
