  1. I have some videos that I would like to add some of my music too. Problem is, that I don't want to dub over all the video. I want to only dub over certain parts of the video with different songs. What program, preferrebly free or trial, do I need to do this?

You would have to tell what kind of video? Which codec does it use? What format is the audio?

Generally you would need to demux (Split the audio and video), then edit the audio and remux it back with the video.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Thanks for the welcome. Well I download them from the internet as Flash (.flv) files. Should I convert them into another media type? I found a site www.media-convert.com that can convert files into a variety of other movie types for free. As far as the codec and audio, I don't know. I'm new to video editing so I apologize. How can I find out and what program do think would probably work to demux the videos?

.flv can be difficult to convert at times. We have a few programs that might help. SUPER, for one, does some types of .flv. .flv was designed as a 'end' product, not something to convert from. Here's one link that might give you some ideas: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic308214.html

If you want to convert to a AVI type format, you could use VirtualDub Mod to extract your audio. And try Audacity for audio editing. Both are freeware.

Which format you might convert to depends on what you want to do with the end result. Xvid is a freeware codec and fairly easy to configure and use. It's not very good for video editing, but no highly compressed format is. Lower compression formats like DV or HuffyUV are better, but take up a whole lot more space. If you are just editing the audio, the video format doesn't make much difference.

But all this is something that might take a while to learn. Well, worth learning, but it can be time consuming.

Any basic video editor, even Windows Movie Maker, will let you do what you want to do. But, as has already been pointed out, you have to start with an editable format video file in the first place and .flv isn't.
